The library at work has been winnowing the collection, putting unwanted materials on a cart in the corridor with the invitation to people to take what they want.

Mostly, it's not worth taking.

Today, however, there was an edition of Computer Organization & Design The Hardware/Software Interface, The Visual Display of Quantitative Information, Visual Explanations, and Envisioning Information.

I suspect I'd better not bring them home.

ETA Every silver lining has its dark cloud. One of the reasons they're available is that the company has laid off all of the company librarians, and is closing all of the corporate libraries.

I've already claimed the books in question (how could I not?), and will be keeping them at work unless I get an all clear to bring them home. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting to get the all clear.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I'm sure if there is something else he'd like to part with that room can be made. Otherwise he needs a large sum of money to add on a much larger library to the back of the house. Which I am all in favor of.

This is some sort of joke, right?

Mostly, I think.

I do have a problem of accumulating books, and I'm nowhere near as good about winnowing the collection as you ([livejournal.com profile] minnehaha) are.

Actually, it's four books.

And yes, I believe there's a fair amount of exaggeration for effect going on here.

I didn't know he wrote a fourth.

I don't believe he wrote a fourth, but I originally wrote that I had acquired four books - three of them were by Tufte.
