The library at work has been winnowing the collection, putting unwanted materials on a cart in the corridor with the invitation to people to take what they want.
Mostly, it's not worth taking.
Today, however, there was an edition of Computer Organization & Design The Hardware/Software Interface, The Visual Display of Quantitative Information, Visual Explanations, and Envisioning Information.
I suspect I'd better not bring them home.
ETA Every silver lining has its dark cloud. One of the reasons they're available is that the company has laid off all of the company librarians, and is closing all of the corporate libraries.
I've already claimed the books in question (how could I not?), and will be keeping them at work unless I get an all clear to bring them home. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting to get the all clear.

Date: 2008-01-09 09:17 pm (UTC)I'm sure if there is something else he'd like to part with that room can be made. Otherwise he needs a large sum of money to add on a much larger library to the back of the house. Which I am all in favor of.

Date: 2008-01-10 01:56 am (UTC)About the layoffs, I've heard that the Company may have pushed another ten people out the door.
Do you know of anyone that I might know?
Also, although it has nothing to do with books or layoffs, Mikey pinged today and mentioned that he hasn't heard anything from you about the "Fudge Alert".
He's been out ice fishing, but is back in town for a while and he says that he E-mailed to let you know that he could participate in a "Fudge Alert" this week, but he hasn't heard back from you.
Is there any message you'd like me to pass along while he's still checking his E-mail?
Enquiring minds and all that.

Date: 2008-01-10 03:01 am (UTC)Yes, there was another round of layoffs this week - mostly among CSF type folk. Names you might recognize include Teresa Eilek and Don Turgeon. There's more - a former manager in CSF, whose name I currently don't recall. I should ask Tim Cain for the full list.
As far as Mikey - I responded to his e-mail, and haven't heard back from him. I should send him another e-mail suggesting Friday, if it works for him.
