Thank you, David, for citing that. And if I could have figured out a reasonably concise way of phrasing it, I'd have added something about retroactively paying room&board once the degree is achieved. For me, the G.I. Bill and pre-Reagan U.C.situatation covered it all nicely. Did it benefit me, parsonally? Not all that much in any materialistic senses -- I Majored in English, with Minors in anthropology and Oriental languages. I spent my entire working life in the field or Ornamental Horticulture. *shrugf*
But... ummm... I don't think "education" _ought_ to have much to do with materialism. What I learned in University made me, I think, a better person,and a better citizen, for the rest of my life. I can only regret that fewer and fewer Americans now have that benison
