Open Mouth, Insert Foot

Corollary: It is neither necessary nor wise to bring this observation to the attention of upper management.
I've been subscribed to Crypto-Gram for about two years now. I learn things from the newsletter, I enjoy it - all-in-all, a real good deal for the price.
The latest Crypto-Gram arrived at a time when I was unable to process my e-mail at home in a timely fashion. So, one day at work, I remembered that someone in the company had been forwarding Crypto-Gram to an internal news group. So I read it on the internal news group.
The person who forwarded the issue made some comment at the top of the post about Bruce's article titled "Fun With Fingerprint Readers" - something to the effect that this should give the biometrics folks a case of heartburn.
Today, for reasons that are not at all clear to me, I checked on the news group again. Some director had responded to the original post, asserting that this was old news, he'd seen the trick done at many trade shows, not to worry, blah blah blah. (In My Very Humble Opinion, he either entirely missed the point of the article, or he was attempting to pull a "Look! There's the Winged Victory of Samothrace" kind of rhetorical trick. Or both).
I've been employed at this company for a long time. Long enough to know what the correct response is.
"I can resist anything except temptation".
My response was, by my standards, exceedingly polite.
I suggested that since it was common knowledge, he should have no difficulty supplying a citation.
And then spent the entire guided relaxation part of my yoga class unable to relax.
Some year, I will learn to stifle my impulses.
Apparently, this isn't the year.

Compared to you I'm a noisy brat!
