News of serendipoz

A week ago (Wednesday, September 24), Minneapolis fan serendipoz entered the hospital for surgery. My understanding is that the surgery itself went well, but that there were unexpected complications during recuperation/rehab. I spoke to her twice today; once while she was still in the ICU, and once after she had been moved out of the ICU. She's looking at more time in hospital, followed by time in a care facility, before she can return home.

I know she would appreciate telephone calls or visits (she's at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis - the general number there being (612) 863-4000). I was told that the hospital does not allow delivery of flowers to her (although I may have heard incorrectly). While I don't have direct knowledge, I suspect that her internet access can be characterised as either limited or non-existent.

aw, crap. i don't know her well, but i like her and i hope she gets better soon.

i suspect that the no flower delivery thing is true, especially if there is a concern about infection. i haven't been to abbott northwestern recently but if a person wanted to have something cheerful delivered to her, i suspect that the hospital gift shop will have balloons and would be glad to deliver her one for a person.

I could be mistaken but I think the no flowers thing is standard in ICU and only applies otherwise if you have pneumonia or are especially high risk for lung problems.
