Went to Chef E's birthday party last night. It was crowded and busy.

mplspunky were pretty and charming (I'm told

mplspunky was also screamingly funny. Considering the source, I'd consider this high praise).

mrsmodew and

aelburr made a spectacular (and tasty) cake. I spoke, briefly, with someone who knew me only from LJ, and surprised myself by being able to identify them (I think) in the context of some posts of theirs I read long ago, even though I didn't really know their LJ handle (still don't, although I think it might be

sharlabacchus). Spent a bit more time talking to

facilisfool - I kinda wish I knew him better.

Fun party, but I found myself back in the mode I've occupied for far too long - outside observer, an alien in disguise, trying to make sense of what I'm observing.

So, anyone, feel free to enlighten me. Explain any- and everything to me - if I haven't figured it out on my own after this long, it's clear I won't without some help.
