Jul. 24th, 2002 11:20 pmSunday was spent at the Minicon open meeting (and its aftermath).
laurafish hosted the meeting. The meeting started off with a group photo, and then moved on to (and quickly through) business. I held up pretty well through the business portion, and did not so well socializing after the business portion was concluded. I was pretty well paralyzed with anxiety. Eventually,
lsanderson,
daedala,
laurafish and I headed off to check out the spot that had been reserved for the MnStf picnic (August 10). We made one wrong turn that put us into St. Paul, but otherwise had little difficulty finding the picnic area. It didn't quite seem to be what was expected. We then went off to Minnehaha Falls, where
laurafish demonstrated how she used to go hide out under the falls when she was younger. She also forded Minnehaha Creek just above the falls.
lsanderson captured all of this on film. We ended up sitting and talking in the concession area, until it was time to leave. I stayed up too late fooling around on the computer.
And don't think I didn't feel that on Monday morning. Monday was just another day at work - catch up on everything that's gone wrong since Friday. I left around 5:30 for my yoga class. Given how tired I was, I expected to have a very difficult time at class. I was wrong - I felt strong, balanced, and centered throughout the class. But in the guided relaxation portion of the class, I started twitching like I was falling asleep (according to the instructor). After class, I did my usual reward of sauna/Jacuzzi at the health club. Then I went home, and again stayed up too late working on the computer.
So Tuesday kind of dragged. I had planned on working out after work. I decided that was an extremely foolish idea, and instead went home. I managed to read all of the Hugo nominees for Best Short Story, and a few of the Best Novelette nominees. I did some work on the computer, but got to bed at a more reasonable hour.
Which brings us to today. Nothing special, started working on some new code. The hardware workaround I've been working on finally made it into the production system, and stayed (the fix had been booted several times previously, it was always pulled because of problems encountered. Most of the problems a result of my cutting corners when trying to get the fix ready). I was going to go work out after work, but when I got to the car, I found I'd left the lights on. I got a jump from a friend, and came home. And here I am, working on the computer again.
