Jun. 22nd, 2002 01:53 pmI spent a fair amount of time on Friday trying to get paper for PR-1, and then get PR-1 printed. It didn't happen, largely because I wasn't prepared, and never really got prepared. But I ended up gathering all the information I'd need to get the paper and print postcards on Saturday.
Since Polonia was supposed to be out of town this weekend (didn't happen), I'd planned to use one of soon-to-expire Super Saver theater tickets to see Attack of the Clones at the Regal Cinema in Eagan. I'd posted my plans on natter, and got some expressions of interest. Elizabeth Bendtsen was interested in seeing the movie, as was Joyce Scrivner. So I spent some time in e-mail with Elizabeth yesterday trying to work out the logistic details. After many exchanges, we reached the conclusion that getting her to Eagan for the show, and back to her home after the show, was too much work, and she bowed out. And Joyce ended up not feeling well, so she didn't make it, either. So I went to the 10PM show anyway.
George Lucas has a great talent for creating visual images. He really needs to spend more money on people who can write dialog.
I'd heard that the dialog was wooden. I had no idea just how wooden people were talking about. It was bad. Really bad.
I'm glad I saw the movie, and now I'll start planning to see Minority Report.

Date: 2002-06-22 12:27 pm (UTC)In that plot, Princess Yoiks falls under the influence of woss'name's raging teenage male chloridians or chlamydia or whatever they're called because the political-school process that made her into the youngest queen ever on Naboo ("This one time? At policy camp? ...") left her vulnerable. While the guy's ability to take over people's minds is presumably the product of the Senator's secret lessons.
I have a feeling that I should have been paid a lot of money to write the screenplay for that movie.
