David Stoddard (http://www.davestoddard.com/) performed tonight at the first house concert held at Harriet Manor. The event came off pretty smoothly, and Mr. Stoddard was a lot of fun (the subject is a take-off on the punch line to an extremely funny joke he told). I really enjoyed his songs and his performance, and Im looking forward to acquiring and listening to his CDs. The concert lasted until 9:30, with one break.

And after the concert, the music circle set up, with the usual suspects sitting in, along with Nate and Louie (who we see far too infrequently) along with Howard Harrison (who we also see far too infrequently).

And how does [livejournal.com profile] bigstonehead feel about this switching heads thing?

He was laughing so hard at the joke that he didn't notice the switch....

Thanks for the friendly phone message from the party. (Curses on the intermittent cell signal here in the wilds of Wales, though it would have probably helped if I kept the phone on my desk rather than in my pocket.)

I suspect that the whole calling you thing would have worked better if I'd thought of it at the beginning of the song, rather than at the end...

Sounds like a good evening. I wish I could have made it there, but by the time I was ready to drive over, I had a nasty headache. So I decided I was no fun and fell right over.

Thanks for mentioning us by name. We hadn't partied with anybody in such a long time, really since WindyCon. But the band worked only Friday night this week, with Saturday off, and it sounded like such a good time (even though we didn't really have $20 to spare to hear David, and so I felt it was respectful to come at the end of his show) and then it really was a good time, too. I have finally acknowledged a quirk of mine (although it did come up at a Minicon a few years ago): I would rather not sing over more than one drummer, as it makes lyrics impossible to understand and gives me a sore throat. Thankfully your drummer guests were understanding of this. A drum jam that is just a drum jam, however, can be really, really cool!!!! Yea and double-yea for the two Jeffs, and Minnehaha B; all of them solid as a rock and in synch -- though better for Louie and me that they took turns dropping out on our stuff. Keep us posted. (You know, by the way, don't you, that Louie and I are also friends of Howie Harrison going back 25 years or more?)

I'm glad it worked out for you and Louie. Your contributions to the music circle after were greatly appreciated.

No, I didn't know that you and Louie were friends of Howard Harrison going back mumble-mumble years. Heck, I had no idea that Becky - er, Becca - had gone to High School with Mr. Harrison.

Once again, thanks for adding so much to the evening.
