...you really should have been at tonight's Whittier Alliance Community Issues meeting.

Carol Becker gave a presentation on property taxes that was both informative and interesting. Her subjects were:
- how property taxes work,
- why your taxes are going up so fast,
- City budget influences: core services, taxes, LGA, etc.
- Immediate impacts of cuts and budget deficit on residents and businesses,
- long range impacts, what to do.

Key point - If your taxes are going up, you should ask whose taxes are going down?

It didn't hurt that she confirmed my suspicion that our clown of a Governor (no, not Pawlenty) had a hand in the big shift...

Carol Becker rocks! And most people were totally unaware of the property tax shift. Sad how that could slide totally under the media radar. When I say LGA or TIF I get blank stares. Finance might be boring but it's not difficult and it affects your life in a noticable way!
