Last Minute Smash-and-Grab

davidschrothWhen there was discussion of the bail-out plan last night, I didn't realise that the proposal explicitly excluded any form of oversight.
The head spins. One can make a more than reasonable case that lack of oversight has landed us in the mess we're in; we're now supposed to let another member of the gang of crooks in power have full power to dispose of $700 billion in taxpayer money with no oversight?
I gotta say, this proposal (http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/20/progressive_conditions_for_a_b/) makes a lot more sense than the official one.
I've sent e-mail to my congressperson and both of my senators, I advise everyone else to let their congressperson and senators know that the proposed plan is unacceptable.
