(no subject)

Just kinda slogging away at work and at life. Spent most of yesterday rewriting someone else's fix. Not sure if they'll use my version of the fix or their version. My version runs ~477 LoC, their version runs ~401 LoC.

Polonia called me today at work. She thinks the Trooper (which she pretty much drives all the time) is about to die. I made an appointment for her to have the service guys look at it. I know she wants to get rid of the Trooper and get a new (or slightly used) car to replace it. I keep pointing out that we have neither the savings nor the cash flow to get a new automobile; my objections never really seem to register. I hope it's can be fixed without costing too much money that I don't have.
I made it to the health club after work, late, to work out. Got home around 2230. Between Polonia leaving the house for work before I awoke, and my getting home so late, we saw even less of one another than normal.
Today has been spent designing and writing a hardware workaround. Progress is slow to non-existent. I did manage to send out a message about PR2 to the concom members I deemed relevant; I'll send the message out to the general concom list when I get home, after my Ortho session with Martin.

It's Always Something

I left work around 1730, headed for my Ortho appointment. The car started up after the usual amount of fussing, and I headed down the road. And about a quarter mile down the road, the engine just cut out. And refuses to start, or run.
So I won't make tonight's appointment. And the hour is late enough that there's not much sense in trying to take the car someplace to get it diagnosed and fixed. And tomorrow's group appointment at 0715 is probably somewhat in doubt, as well. And if the car doesn't start tomorrow, I'm going to have to find a repair place close enough to work that I can get it towed reasonably cheaply. Perhaps the place where serendipoz has work done on her autos.
Grump.
